Paypal Caves In On Spam
Thursday, 22 September 2011
Thanks to a campaign by Not The News Of The World, and a threat of A$1,000,000 a day fines, Paypal have agreed to stop sending spam.
Since breaking the news that Paypal was under investigation by the Australian Anti Spam authorities and facing A$1,000,000, Not The News Of The World has been contacted by Paypal's Executive Escalation team, who have made commitments to stop sending spam to people who have expressly asked them to stop.
They have also committed to considering an 'unsubscribe' facility as required by the anti-spam laws in Europe and Australia. We are still awaiting further confirmation regarding this.
In the mean-time, they will be taking the issue up with their customer services team regarding their outright refusal to stop sending emails, once requested by the email owner.
