England Win Over India in the First Test at Lord's.
Monday, 25 July 2011
England won an impressive 96 run victory in the first test of a four test series despite some poor umpiring decisions.
Umpire Billy Bowden twice denied LBW, but we won the 2000th ever test match anyway.
India were dismissed for 261 in the final session with 28.3 overs remaining.
James Anderson bowled five out for only 65 runs, and despatched Sachin Tendulkar, LBW for 12. Suresh Raina was India's best performer with 78 runs.
India is currently the worlds number one side, but England can overtake them if they win the series by at least two tests.
Today was "People's Money", with discounted tickets and free entry for under 16s, and hopefuls queued from 3am to secure a seat and Indian fans outnumbered England's.
